Nature of the Office and Term

The President is the head of Yehodaya’s executive branch. The President is responsible for administering the affairs of the state, enforcing its laws, and protecting national security, subject in all respects to the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
The President will be elected directly by all citizens of Yehodaya.
The President will serve a single six-year term. The term cannot be extended, and no person who has served as President may ever be elected to another presidential term.

Any citizen of Yehodaya may stand for the presidency, provided that the citizen has no criminal record and is at least 40 years old on the date the candidacy is declared.
The only threshold requirements for participation in the presidential election are verified supporting signatures from no fewer than 1 percent of all eligible voters in the state and a declaration of allegiance to the state, the Bill of Rights, the Constitution, and the laws of Yehodaya.
A citizen who satisfies these conditions becomes an official candidate.
No state authority may impose additional conditions upon, delay, or disqualify a candidacy for subjective reasons. The people are the sole judges of the candidates’ qualifications.

The presidential election will use a two-round system.
A candidate receiving more than 50 percent of the valid votes in the first round will be declared President-elect.
If no candidate crosses that threshold, a runoff election will be held within 14 days between the two candidates who received the most votes in the first round. The winner of the runoff will be declared President.
