Yehodaya — יְהוֹדַיָה

YEHODAYA · יְהוֹדַיָה

Transitional Provision for the Founding Year

Staggering Terms of Office

To establish the Sanhedrin during the state’s first year and initiate the system under which one third of its membership is replaced every two years:

  • During Yehodaya’s first year, elections will be held simultaneously for all 72 seats.

  • Following the election, the elected representatives in each district will be divided into three term groups according to the number of votes they received:

    • The third receiving the fewest votes among the elected candidates in their district will serve an abbreviated term of two years.
    • The middle third will serve an abbreviated term of four years.
    • The leading third, consisting of those receiving the most votes in their district, will serve a full term of six years.

Once the abbreviated terms have ended, all representatives elected thereafter will serve full six-year terms.
